6moons recommends GE 5751 triple mica black plates. I do not have this player, yet but thinking hard about the sale that is going on.

What are you playing it through and what speakers? Also, what tubes have you tried and what improvements would you be looking for?

Yes, my recommendation is to stay away. Sovtek tubes came stock in my Anthem Pre1L preamp and come stock in many OEM tube components. There are many better sounding tubes out there, and some of them can be picked up at pretty reasonable prices depending on the tube type/size.

I've heard EI-gold pins pop up. Anyone know where to find a nice pair?

They are out there but rare and expensive.

Maybe Jesse can confirm but I have heard the same version of the Ei without gold pins are just as good.

I now have the JD100 and have tried Sylvania 3 mica BP D getter which is about $200 a pair and I have in the player now Treasure 12AX7s still burning in.

While I still prefer the Syls the treasures sound great especially at half the price.

I probably will put the Syls back in after the treasures are burned in and see which I like best. If margain is small I will sell the Syls.

While I did not try 12AX7s EI gold pins, I did try a set of EI gold pin 6922s and in my system to my ears they just sounded flat and tinny. I much preferred the NOS Mullard, Amperex, RCA, Phillips, and Sylvania tubes I tried. They all sounded much fuller and richer than the EIs to me.

Not to steal the thread here guys. But what kind of 'life' do you get out of these various tubes. I noticed on the Jolida sites? One says 1000 hours warranty on tubes, the other 3 months. Surely tubes LAST longer than that--at least I hope they do because dishing out a few hundred dollars for tubes a couple of times a year is not going to cut it. I'm still mulling over the Jolida Music Van (the higher/newer model CDP) uses four tubes (in/out). I heard this model and was quite impressed with it. Although it must be added that it was paired with the best separates Jolida makes (the Music Envoy Monoblocks and associated tube pre along with a pair of fairly large Tannoy floorstanders). A really NICE sounding system!

I also bought (but haven't installed): NOS RCA BP 12AT7

    Both are true.

Completely different tubes. The 12AX7's in the Jolida are anything but flat and tinny.

In general, 9 pin signal tubes last a very, very long time. I've been running the same Ei set in my modded Jolida since 2006 and it's on most of the time. Those stock Jolida tubes are crap and it may be that they will not last long.

Power tubes are an entirely different story.

I think I've had my Ei set in since '08 and it's on most of the time as well.

I never pulled tubes out before. Do they just pop out or is there a tool/skill needed?

    Thanks

    Hey Leroy,

How does the Jolida sound with the stck tubes?

Is it a big improvement over your Rotel 1072?

    Thanks

I put some Psvane 12AX7 grade A tubes in my Jolida JD-100 last Friday and left the player on continuos play all weekend to burn them in.

Monday night it was time to see what they could do, what a difference - tighter better controlled bass, improved detail in the highs, and alot blacker background, worth every penny!

If you own a Jolida - GET RID of the stock tubes!

I recently installed a SC Magic PC with a pair of Shuguang Psvane's. I have about 24hrs of burn time on them and all I have to say is WOW.
