I was talking to a seller about his amp, and the subject of scams came up. He relayed this little gem to me.

"Somebody" took his Ebay handle, created a yahoo account using it (example seller001 at Ebay, crook makes a yahoo account seller001@yahoo.com). Crook then emails all the bidders using yahoo account and offers them a deal, "hey send me X amopunt ro my Paypal account and I will kill the auction. Seller and the buyer has no idea till it is to late.

Effing crooks

Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
Outlaw ICBM - crossover
Beringher BFD - sub eq

Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

I'm in somewhat of a panic situation......I just bought a driver in a somewhat similar situation. I had sent this guy a question about the driver and he finally emailed me back, but said that the guy who won the auction didn't want it and asked if I did. I never bid on the thing, but basically met the winning bid. We'll see in the next day or so what happens.........

Brett - I have made that offer in a couple of my auctions. You should be fine. It is unfortunate, but some people get caught up in the bidding process and don't follow through.

Just make sure the email address in the auction(seller), is the same as the email sender. If not, have him confirm with you from the listed auction email. If he cannot, then contact Ebay.

I always check the email address of the seller first, copy it down, then bid.

dorokusai......I can't verify their email address on the auction because I didn't actually bid on the item, which is what Ebay is indicating.

When I sent an email to the person running the auction, they responded from the email address that was linked to the auction, so that's a good thing. The only discrepancy that I'm finding is that the email address that they've corresponded from, and the verified Paypal account email address are different. Is that weird?

Once again, NO. Unless the emails are in the same week. I have 3 emails. 1 being 3 years old, 2 years old, and one months old. I change emails periodically. Some people register stuff under different emails. Overall I have things registered on over 20 emails throughout the internet. Stops pop ups (and junk mail) and makes it harder for them mofos at Big Brother to trace junk back to you.

But I do not see it out of the ordinary. Just me though.....

I just emailed the winning bidder to see if he would confirm that he dropped out of the auction and decided he didn't want the item. I'm gonna hold out until tonight to see any further.......

I think that this is the first time that I've been so nervous about an auction turning out right..........

Read Ebay's posting policy Sid, it explains procedure and requirements.

Well, I got too nervous about the whole thing and went to PayPal and filed a complaint considering that before I made the payment, we'd exchanged 3 or 4 emails over a 12 hour period, and then as soon as I made the payment, zero responses to my 3 emails in 28 or so hours.

I file the complaint, and I'll be damned, within 20 minutes I get a response from him indicating that the driver is going out tomorrow and that he was trying to get a box to send the thing. I can cancel the complaint at any time, but I'm not going to until I either get a tracking number, or the driver. It's just struck me as odd that as soon as payment was made and accepted, that no responses were being made as to tracking information etc.

    Hopefully it works out ok..........

I have been getting some solicitations on items lately. Two different ones on a turntable I bid on for grins.

Both were similar and in the "I noticed you bid on... well I also have and will make you a real good deal...".

    Trashed 'em...
    More later,
