Sierra Vista hit 6 degrees this morning, an all time record. Tucson also broke an all time record at 16 degrees.

In the 20 years I have lived here, 19 degrees was the coldest I ever experienced. Temps in the "teens" are extrememly rare down here.

How is your community handling the lower temps? Is the cold bothering you? Do you like it? :)

That's right. Water freezes at 60 degrees in Phoenix; this is a serious state of emergency type thing. I even saw a guy wearing long pants!

+1, LMAO! Climate science...either/or, right? I know some real scientists here and reality is a little more complex than Yes or No!

Don't really care to engage this debate...especially after being surrounded for a year by China's top scientists? So no comment!

Pure inventions of science tend to be a little complex to explain when the explanations fly in the face of reality.

Watch those pipes Steve. I have a friend in Austin whose pipes froze the other night because the house just wasn't made to live with sustained below-freezing temps for so long.

I'm only 12 miles from Mexico (as the crow flys). Naco is about 35 minutes by car.

Drove by Sierra Vista after leaving Bisbee and driving down to Naco to get a flavor of the other life. The town on the other side of the border looked like something out of 'Desperado'. Gringos were a hot item that day.

We don't even bother anymore...too dangerous, and most of the tent businesses have dried up between the violence, passport requirements, etc.

There are schools shutting down in south texas right now...no snow, just 'a possibility' of ice...hilarious.

Lowes closed 3 hours early here last night due to 'rolling black outs'...we had 1 <10 minute planned 'brown out' in mid-afternoon...

I love how the south shuts down when it actually gets cold for once.

The actual temperature low here yesterday was 19*, high of 32*...but the windchill made it feel much colder. Like currently, its 30*, feels like 21*. I forgot to leave our water running last night, luckily nothing froze.

this was taken in cedar park, tx a couple days ago, pretty funny.

It'll be back in the 60s this weekend, where the weather belongs :)

busted pipes all over town. then at 10 am one of the owners of my work had their roof come down with a gush of water all over his expensivo mac computer and a buncha other junk.

i learned that leaving the faucets drip overnight does wonders. so i've been employing that notion and so far so good. few co-workers called in cuz their pipes burst at home. we're just not setup for this crap. oh, and southwest gas is shutoff to much of the eastside.
