A nice review of the SurroundBar 6000

I have only heard the SurroundBar in stores but would like to see how they sound in an actual home environment. I have considered one for the TV in my living room where even something as small as the Blackstones will never reside (it is a Speaker Free Zone ). That is really no problem as I rarely use the room, but I think my wife "might" enjoy the surround effects for the movies she and my daughters watch. OTOH they are mainly "chick flicks" and dramas where the surround effects are limited. Not a high priority, but I may explore the possibility...just because...
Home Theater Review liked the SurroundBar 6000. I hope Polk continues to excel in this area. Here is the review:

Get one for a B-day or something. It has other benefits besides movies. They offer the same SDA effect as the SDA speakers and the surroundbar is much more forgiving than the SDAs are. mainly because the array has fixed distances between drivers that the user can't change. Therefore the effect is much more consistent and placement isn't as critical.
I had an original 42" for a demo and it excelled in an oddly shaped room. If the material she watches isn't bass heavy then you can get away with just the surround bar. If you still want a sub, you can get an instant home theater with the wireless sub and shove it behind a couch or a plant.
You don't need any kind of super duper receiver to run it either. An entry level Onkyo is more than enough.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

You do not need a receiver for the instant home theater. It's powered. Not sure about the other surroundbars._________________________________________________

Oh. Didn't know that for sure, didn't bother to look it up. The original SurroundBar needs a receiver.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
