OK. I did a search. When were Monitor 7Cs with a short grille and the logo on the cabinet made? Are they the latest or fairly early? Were many made with this grille design? Thanks.

Twenty looks and no replies? Slow night. Maybe these old Monitors should have an Antique Speaker forum.:smile:

Those with a cabinet logo are early series. Those with the grille logo are later series.

Do the early ones have the short grille with a bit more of the cabinet showing at the bottom?
    Thanks Bobsama

Maybe this helps. My Monitor 5A's have the short grills with the logo on the bottom of the cabinet. They were manufactured in 1983.

The 7 7As ,7Bs all use the longer grill with badge (1977- 1983) The very late 7Bs and early 7Cs use short grill with name badge on the wood underneth Called the Revised Cabinet) (1983 to 1985) Not sure about late 7Cs

They were late in the history of the speakers AFAIK. That was the question, yes?

Yes. I had heard that the 10s had a short grille at some time but I didn't know the 7s did. Is there any place on the web that goes into detail about the older Polks? Thanks.

FWIW, I have some Monitor 10Bs with the short grille. Use SL1000 tweeters with a fuse in the crossover.

What are we trying to find out here.?? The 7 s and 10s both went to a short grill around 1983. It was called the new or revised cabinet. I have even seen boxes stamped as such with red ink. Keith

Just asking about 7s with short grille and logos on cabinet. I've never seen these and wondered if anyone else had. Seems like a few here have either seen or owned a pair. I am also looking for a source that identifies the the Polk speakers in the Older Monitor series. Do you guys just dig the info out of what's on the net and your personal experience? Polk list older speakers on their site but they only show/describe one speaker in a series.

The 7Cs I'm looking at have the SL 1000 tweeters. How do you like yours?
The ones I'm looking at have wood veneer that looks very nice. Paying way too much for them though. Non disclosure:wink:
