    Well I received the speakers today. The crease turned out to be a melted place in the dome and the wire going to it is hanging out. (see photo) I got bit by eBay! I contacted the seller to see if they will help with replacement cost but I'm not counting on it.

    The good new is the speakers are in otherwise great condition. Other than the tweeter being burned out I'm very happy. One of the plastic binding post nuts (black one) is missing and some of the black plastic pegs that stick out to hold the grilles got broken off in shipping. The grilles are perfect. Are any of those parts still available? If not how are people dealing with them being broken?

    I just checked ebay and they have several sl2000 for sale on there now. It looks like that one had a hard life. Many people recommend going with the rdo-194 tweeter upgrade from Polk, but I have not tried it yet. You even get a discount for being a CP member. One of my sets have the grill pins gone as well, I just leave them off. I am sure, however, that all of the knowledgeable people on this forum will chime in to help you. Sorry about the dishonest seller and Maybe some of these guys who have upgraded already will have some extra tweets lying around. I have a few, but I am sort of a hoarder and will not part with them. You should start a wanted thread I guess. As far as the above post, there is nothing funny about selling damaged goods or poor quality shipping, unless I seriously do not get the joke.

    Not funny to me either, I have extra sl-2000 tweets if you want one TennMan. PM me for if you are interested. I will advice however that the RDO-194 is a great upgrade and well worth the price if you choose to go that route.

    Never is funny to buy something and then find out it's defective! You can get another 2000 or buy the replacement RDO set from from Polk. Whatever you do make this e-bay seller make it right or leave negative feed back and a less than five star rating. They hate that and will usually do the right thing. I've powered 10s with a 100 watt receiver and a 250 watt power amp. Good luck and welcome to Polk mania!

    I really didn't see anything funny about it either. Maybe he just needed to have a good laugh at someone elses misfortune.

    Anyway, I contacted the seller but didn't hear back. Don't really expect to. Will leave bad feed back if I don't. I think I will try another sl2000 before upgrading. Don't know at this point what else might be wrong.

    Well, as it has turned out that is not the case.

    The seller responded to my complaint about the bad tweeter and has agreed to send a replacement. She said an employee had checked the speakers and didn't report the bad tweeter to her before she posted them on eBay. Sounds like an honest mistake. If she delivers on her promise I will be happy. If she doesn't I will post her eBay ID here so others don't get burned.

    This afternoon while looking at the speakers I decide to remove the bad tweeter just to see what the back looked like. While I had it out I got the bright idea to try to solder the wires back together that were broken and sticking out. I soldered the wires and stuck the tweeter back in the cabinet. Guess what? It works and the speakers sound great. I'm still going to replace the tweeter but I just can't believe the old one still works. I've been listening to them for a couple of hours and I just love the way they sound. I'm very happy to know the tweeter was the only problem they have.
