The other day our local college radio shows was playing a ton of his music...honestly I have never heard of him before. Most of the music was from his early albums. To sum it up, I was blown away by his voice, the complexity and flow of his music, and his use of various musical styles. I stopped what I was doing and just sat and listened to all of it. Pretty cool there is still great music out there to be discovered....

Love him. You have to get "10 New Songs", and "I'm you're Man". They are two totally different albums. You would probably like Chris Rea too. "The Road to Hell" is very good. There are a few others that are not main stream that I think you would adore also:smile:

I'm a big fan. But this one is somewhat generational. Most people my age know who Leonard Cohen is and probably own an album or a CD or two or three if they like him. For some he's too depressing--but not for many of us!

Great to see another generation discovering this talent!

Jennifer Warnes' Famous Blue Raincoat is an entire album of her covering Cohen's songs. He's an amazing song writer. You may be familiar with his song Hallelujah which K.D.Lang sang at the closing ceremonies of the 2010 winter Olympics and has been covered by many artists.

Isn't it great when you listen to FM music and hear some one completely new and like.

    Have many CDs of Leonard.

I've been a Leonard fan since 1969. The man is a complete trip. He is a master poet, first and foremost. See lyrics to "Chelsea Hotel". That's all ya gotta know. Leonard is now about 76 or so. If anyone wants to see a true master at this age, get the DVD "Leonard Cohen- Live in London". Arguably his best LP.."New skin for an old ceremony", but they are all masterpieces IMHO. PS: Leonard is a Zen master.

My favourites are Songs From A Room and Songs of Love and Hate.
    Leonard is a national treasure.
Bird On A Wire has to be one of the greatest songs of all time.

Is he still the Poet Laureate of Canada?

I'm going to have Famous Blue Raincoat stuck in my head all day tomorrow I know it already.
    Sounds good to me...
