A friend of mine wants to sell Classe CP-35 pre-amp and Classe CA-151 two channel power amp to me but he doesn't know the current market price. He'll give me 30% off of current market price.

Does anyone know what they're worth? They are both in perfect condition, both functionally as well as cosmetically.

Classe CP-35/CA-151 vs Parasound..Which one is better for 2 ch? My speakers are LS 90's.

Thanks,

    CP-35 - $460
    CA-151 - $1,030

These are used average prices according to Audiogon, which is fairly accurate, as long as the gear is in perfect working order and in pretty good shape cosmetically.

    Classe makes great stuff.

EDIT: Classe is a solid notch up from Parasound in most cases. Only top of the line Parasound could compare (and probably would compare to lower Classe models only), that's of course my opinion. With the deal he says he'll give you, I would say there is no way I would pass on it to buy Parasound.

Classe for sure unless your talking about the upper tier of Parasound then you'd have to take it on a model vs. model basis.

    Thanks fishbones, heiney9,

Do you think CA-151 provides enough power to drive LS90's ? I currently have Parasound HCA 2205 and I love it. Never had chance to listen to classe.

Close call... how seriously do you lean on the 2205?

Regardless, if I were you, I'd ask your friend over... he brings the amp... you buy the beer. Remove all doubt...

This is the best scenario, maybe the differences aren't that great to your ears or maybe they are.

Tour nailed it, all things being equal, I'd take the Classe.

Classe hands down. Parasound is ok (even their best offerings) but even then they are just breaking the Classe entry level barrier imo. Been there, done that and now the Parasound gear sits in the garage collecting dust. Great for HT though.
