I'm thinking of replacing my 12 yr. old rt16's with a pair of rtia9's. Would this be much of an improvement considering i mostly use my system for HT. Also would my csi5 center match and would i need an external power amp to power these puppies!
Thanks

The RT16's are fine speakers, but upgrading to A9's would be beneficial in overall resolution, and bass articulation - they play deeper, and have a more muscial low end. The CSi5 isn't the spot on match, but it's close enough that I wouldn't worry about it.

While you're at it, check out polkdirect on eBay, and spend $60 to change those Paradigm micro's to at least OWM3's.

    Cheers,
    Russ

What Russ said......but as far as the amp question goes, you would be just ok running A9's with that receiver in 7 channel mode. An amp would help bring out the best in them. A nice step up for sure, good luck to you.

That's what i'm looking for is more bass out of the mains,, fortunately there are no dealers in my area for me to listen.

I believe the paradigms are fine for now since there arent many(if any) movies in 7.1.. I will be replacing them eventually with maybe the fxia4's along with the front presence..I moved them to the rear when i upgraded to the fxia6's
