Newb wants pairing confirmation

After a home remodeling project, want to make sure I'm on the right track on in audio department.

I've got an Onkyo tx sr505 for my receiver, which I've had for a couple of years. On the speaker department, here's what I'm looking at picking up:

Main speakers: Audio Monitor 70
Sub: (likely) a PSW505 or PSW111 -- preferences
Center: CS10 (20?)

I'm going to wait on the rear, as the room configuration dictates I need to go wireless, and the new audio along with the new plasma will be a big first step. Though I am willing to take wireless surround advice if folks offer it up.

My primary question is -- are the speaker pairings I'm leaning towards simpatico? thanks in advance.

Hit up the 505 sub, and the cs20 to gell with the M70's and you should be a happy camper.

Why the CS20 over the CS10?

The center is the most important piece for HT. The larger unit will better mix with the towers.

Because Polk says so (actually it's CS2) http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/products/recent/monitor70/

the cs2 is a better timbre match for the 70's and i would go with the 505 over the 111. Good luck and enjoy

Is there a big difference between the CS2 and the CS20? As a bit of a newb, it can be a bit confusing.

Based on the specs it doesn't look like there's a big difference, and I get confused between them all the time (even though I should know since I have the Monitor 70's and the CS2). But, the CS2 uses identical drivers to those used in the Monitor 70's so they should match better. The CS20 matches the TSi series of speakers.

Thanks for all the feedback. My plan may have just hit a possible snag. My entertainment unit's opening where I had envisioned putting the CS2 is only 8" high. The CS2, according to the specs, is 7 3/4" high. Is this too tight an enclosure? Though this matches better with the 70s, am I better off with the CS20 which measures 7 3/8" high. I don't want too tight a fit? The good deal I found for the CS2 and the Monitor70s expires tomorrow. Appreciate any feedback.

So 1/4" is sufficient clearance. Just want to double confirm before I pull the trigger. Would have private messaged you, but I don't have enough posts. Thanks so much.

Placed the order for the CS2 tonite. Hoping that it's a relaxed 1/4" and that if fits like a comfortable glove. Next question. What type of speaker wire would folks recommend for the Monitor 70 and CS2. And with these speakers, are any pin connectors or plugs recommended/suggested. What gauge and brands are worth looking at. Thanks.

I don't see where additional clearance would be of any significant benefit. If anything, it sounds like everything will fit together nicely (from an aesthetic perspective). If you have any concerns upon receiving the speaker, be sure to include a picture. I'm assuming that side clearance isn't an issue.

Some 14 gauge speaker wire, like from monoprice (.com), would be a great starting point. Banana plugs would make connecting and disconnecting easier, if you're going to be doing it repeatedly. Otherwise, bare wire connections are fine. Just be sure to twist and avoid any stray bits of wire.

    Thanks for the tip.

I was just concerned with the CS2 fitting at all. Anxious to see how tight the fit it is. 1/4" (or less) is not much wiggle room. If it doesn't fit, I'll repost and solicit opinions. Thanks much.

    it should fit.

I recently bought a cs20, pretty big mo fo, had to install a bigger shelf underneath my tv for it to fit. Worked out pretty well.

The CS2 fit like a glove -- literally, with less than 1/4" clearance after I put the feet on. Still need to run the audio cable, but I'm encouraged.
