I've made some improvements to my 2 channel system that I thought I would share here to get some feedback. I had been using the Emotiva XPA-2 with UPA-1 & Marantz SA8001 SACD. Here's what I have now:
Harman Kardon HK 990 Integrated Amplifier
Onkyo C-S5VL SACD Player
Furman Elite 15 Power Conditioner
I was not at all dissatisfied with the Emotiva gear, in fact I like it a lot (still have it). But when HK came out with that 990, I just had to have one. I love the bass management feature it has, very similar to what is used by HTR's nowadays. I haven't actually used it yet, I want to listen to it for a while like it is, then go through the setup to see how big a difference it makes. After that, I might try my NHT X2 crossover to get a real stereo subwoofer setup and see if I can get that dialed in, and how that will sound.
Any thoughts on all this??

I've read some reviews of the HK990 and I'll be interested in your thoughts. I picked up its companion CD player, the HD990 to audition a couple of weeks back on a pretty decent discount. It's not an SACD but uses some of the same DACs, processing, etc. of the Cambridge A. 840. So far I'd say it's very 'detailed' and has decent bass. I'd be really curious if you had that player matched to your integrated as they are made for each other and have a special low-jitter connection line between them, that we may see more of in FUTURE equipment?
Look forward to the review. The only problem I see with the new HK integrated is its price. Personally I think about 1200-1500 Max would be a good price not the 2400+ price tag HK has on that. And, primarily, because you can pick up something really nice on the used market for much less?
Enjoy!
