Sub blew??

Just hooked up a new system. I have a PSW110 sub that has been working fine along with everything else. I was watching TV and all of sudden very loud thumps starting coming from sub. I have disconnected sub because after messing with it for a while nothing seemed to help. Has anyone ever heard of this? Is this a common symptom of the sub blowing?
Thanks

Hi, RD. Just to clarify, the sub has been hooked up exactly the same way and has been working fine for a while now? Nothing has changed?
Also, I'd be interested to hear more about what happened after the thumps. Did the sub go dead? Or would it continue to thump if you plugged it in now?
More information like this would be helpful in helping to figure out what's going on and what to do next.

Hey Doug, It has been hooked up for about 2 weeks now using LFE, which is the way I hooked it up from the beginning. And yes if I hook it up right now it starts thumping and volume control on Sub seems to have no effect on the thumping, the thumps are very loud.

Just found an old post by Delorean2006 back in Dec. 2009 that sounds like the same issue. So maybe this is a known problem with this sub? Same exact symptoms and issues as I am having. Anyone know of this? Thread was called PSW110 problems.

Hi, RD. Well, something has happened and I think we can safely narrow down the culprits to the sub amp and the receiver. I take it that the sub does this regardless of the source?
If I were a betting man, I'd say it's the amp in the sub, which has a 3-year warranty. That's the good news, provided you haven't had it that long.
Here's how to test the sub to see if the amp's bad:
1) Hook the RCA cable to your TV's variable audio outputs. This takes the receiver out of the equation, but still provides a signal the sub can use
2) If you can borrow someone else's sub, great. If not, try connecting a powered speaker to the LFE.
3) Try connecting the sub using speaker wires. (I'ts possible that the LFE in is bad, but it's unlikely.)
Finally, I'm not sure you can call two problems a "known issue." In this age of the Internet you can find someone out there who's had any problem you can imagine. I wouldn't read too much into it.
