Tsi200 placement for music.

I have onkyo sr-608 and a pair of Tsi 200.
My usage is 90% music.

Currently the speakers are placed either side of the TV about 2.5 ft above the ground. i.e. same at the listening height.

I am not happy with the audio, I guess I am missing something.

As everybody knows, the Tsi200 are rear ported. So I have them about 1.5 ft away from wall.

But still, when I am in front of the speakers the bass isn't good.
It's good when I am at the backside of speakers.

I feel wall-mounting option may be good for tsi 200 and music.
But how will the rear port be affected?

What's the ideal placement for Tsi 200 for music?

Please help, I am not able enjoy the system since last 4 months.

Well, placement is only going to get you so much... they're bookshelves.
    I recommend adding a sub.

I am not sure what you expected from them. I have the Monitor 40s. The same as the TSi200s. It is a great entry level speaker. After owning them for a year, I have played with them quite a bit. Judged them against other makes and what not. My final thought on them is that they are pretty good. But yes, placement is very critical with them. 1 1/2 feet from a back wall is about right. You might want to g oa little further. And also a good 3 feet from a side wall.
You will need patience in finding there sweat spot. WHen you do, I think you will like them. Just don't expect 20 Hz to come out of them!
Also, you can tweek the settings on the 608.
Things are more like they are now than they ever will be!

    Hi sanjivg,

    Is this your receiver?
    http://www.us.onkyo.com/model.cfm?m=TX-SR608&class=Receiver&p=i

Check your speaker setup again and be sure that subwoofer is set to NO and your fronts set to full band. That will send all bass to the TSi 200. maudioguy is right about getting a sub. I reviewed the TSi 100s and tried them with and without a sub. By themselves I recall the bass being rather indistinct and muddy. With a PSW10 taking care of the bass, they sounded quite good.

    Hope this helps.

I had already taken care of these.

So a PSW10 would be good. Some people suggested me to buy a stereo amp.

The PSW10 happened to be what I had available and would work for you if you have a tight budget. There are better, more musical subs, but I will let others make recommendations.

Almost any sub in Polk's line would do the trick. A lot of guys have been raving about the PSW505 as being the best value available new right now. Google it and look for some deals.

Here is a good subwoofer for price and performance! It may be a tad bit overkill!
