Should have posted this long ago. It's a video of our Mirage 1 bedroom tower suite from Apr 2010 trip. We're getting ready to go again, so I thought I'd post it.

Alot of people are always asking about hotels in Vegas, though not inexpensive by any stretch, we prefer the Mirage over any other place we've stayed so far; Luxor, Monte Carlo, Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Harrahs. Though the Monte Carlo is a hell of a value, with suites running about $650 for a 5 night stay.

This particular room generally runs about $1170 for 5 nights (Sun-Fri), but if you reserve and keep checking back, you can typically catch it at $850. Make sure you don't use a promotion, as these cannot be cancelled. Do a regular reservation, and you've got a 48hr before check-in cancellation option. Enjoy!

We stayed recently at the Monte Carlo -in a Suite - was not impressed at all. It was dirty and next to the elevator. Bed was very uncomfortable. Room was very 'dated'. Probably won't stay there again. Now, the Aria on the other hand .... :)

Monte Carlo seems to be real dicey; you either have a wonderful stay, or it sucks. We've always been very satisfied with our stays there, and typically get either a Monaco or Spa suite. I have heard negative things from a number of other people though.

We really liked our suite in the Venetian, but the problem with the Venetian is that everything in the hotel is EXPENSIVE. Add to that a pretty tight (doesn't pay out much) casino, and we started looking for something else. We like a hotel that we can spend the day at, if we want, and really enjoy it. The Mirage is a good mix of cool surroundings, easy going casino, and lots of bar/food choices.

We used to LOVE the Luxor--but not anymore. We stayed there about 7 times, back-to-back--we liked it so much. But now it's yuppyville, and they are quickly killing off the Egyptian theme throughout the hotel to appeal to the 20-somethings. No thanks. I do miss it though.

I'm shocked! I had the exact opposite experience but that was about 15 years ago. My bed was so perfect, I wanted to haul it off and I've been thinking about going back ever since. Thanks for the warning.

Probably the same beds as 15 yrs ago. Our last stay in Dec was at The Aria (3 free nights - on the weekend no less) was exceptional. The rooms are fully automated (curtains, lights, TV, etc.).
