Very nice and clean. Glue that chip in place before it gets worse.

Congrats on some nice looking speakers. A word of warning though, SDAs have a habit of multiplying. Last summer I bought my first set of SDAs. I now have 4 sets...

P.S. I'm not sure how versed you are in the SDA technology, but thought I'd mention one of the most important things -- Make sure you have a common ground amp if/when you hook up the interconnect cable.

Thanks audio_alan, this is the 2nd set for me in the last 3 weeks. I sold the first set to a good friend and regreted it, I'll hang on to these. Speaking of amps, I need one to drive these any help would be great.

Congrats! Hard to say on pictures but yet they almost look like new except for that small chip. As Ben suggest glue this before it gets worse.

Check the FS threads - there is a nice NAD c270 that would work real well with these...if your local to DFW.

I know this is a newbie question, but aren't most amps common ground

Most amps are CG. The way to tell is to take a reading across the ground posts on the amp with nothing plugged in. You should get a near 0hom reading with a multimter if it is a CG amp.

    Nice Speakers.

I had the same model (and probably should have kept them).

There is a lot of controversy about the need for the "dimensional" tweeter - the one on the side of the speaker with one mid driver. Some think it provides an exaggerated SDA effect, and later Polk models eliminated it.

I disconnected mine (but left the tweeter in place) and thought it improved the sound.

Then I substituted the RDO silk tweeter available from Polk Audio on each side for the remaining SL-2000 silver coil. improved again, not as bright.

Or, you could just leave well enough alone (if that is possible for a Polkie).

    Enjoy!

Great to see you in the SDA club Cayuga! I run my SDA 2A's with an Adcom GFA-555 and love it! My brother in law runs the speakers you have with a GFA-545 and it also sounds great. If I had the choice I might go with a nice NAD though, its up to you but there are plenty of used choices out there.

Did you buy anything else from Gary? He's got tons of stuff in that room of his, you never know what you are going to find:wink:

I ran mine with an Adcom 5400 and it was plenty powerful enough. The 545 would be plenty for them.

I would second that. SDA's sound just peachy on NAD gear. They just...I dunno...they just work and it sounds great!

Thanks for all the congrats. As for the amp choices, my funds are running low. In the last week I picked up RT16's,CS350, S6's,Wharfdale Diamond 7.2, Denon 3200 and now these. Is there anything in the $100-$200 range that will hold me till I get some cash or the wife goes out of town?

    The NAD in this thread:

    http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112655&highlight=nad+c270

It's still for sale and at $225, it's a little above your range but if you get this one, it's not a stepping stone. It's a permanent option and a pretty dang good one at that.

Cayuga, like Ben said, The Adcom 545 is plenty of power for those and it should fit within your budget if you keep you eye open on CL or Ebay.

If you do find an NAD that you like, just make sure it works with SDA's because I know that some of them won't
If your ever in the Ithaca area just let me know and you can check out one our set ups.

Also, if you like live Jazz, stop by my family's cafe for a show some time www.carriagehousecafe.com

I think the next show is Feb. 12th but I'm still working out the details

    Best of luck!
