Subwoofer match for SDA-1Cs

I'm toying with the idea of adding a sub to fill in the very low end missing from my SDA-1Cs. They're being powered by an Onkyo M504 amp (165 wpc) but I usually listen at fairly low volume levels and hearing the sub in my computer sound system (polk sub w/ B&W 601's) makes me realize how much "realism" a sub adds to music. My question is, is there a particular model/ brand that is a better match sonically than another or is it just personal preference? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Life's too short too listen to bad speakers

1C's don't need a sub if they are set-up properly and run with proper gear.

If you must have a sub, BTW, I don't at all think it's necessary, as my 1C's dig really deep then any of the Polk DSW Micro Pro's 2000/3000 are fantastic subs

Of course, you haven't given us a budget, associated gear, what you listen to, room size, layout or what your end goal is, so it's almost impossible to make a "real" recommendation.

Did I already mention a sub is not necessary with SDA 1C's.

I agree with Brock that they don't need a sub; but Eric pointed out that the OP said he wants a sub.

To jmitchnh, how are your SDA's setup? Any room treatments? What are your speakers sitting on IE carpet, hardwood floors?

We can give you a list of suggestions before you decide to pull the trigger on a subwoofer (which in turn could possibly save you alot of $$$). Something as simple as pulling your speakers away from or moving them closer to the wall will change the way they sound. Spiking them is also an option (my Paradigms are currently spiked and I love them).

Without further detail, we're limited as to what one can recommend.

Oh and btw, you can build a subwoofer yourself. I built one for when I had my SDA's (later added Magnepan's) and I tell you, even though the sub dug deep and I mean 18hz deep, I felt the 1C's weren't lacking any punch or detail to require a sub so I eventually got rid of it.
