Now, this looks to be a good movie. Right up my alley. Anybody else looking forward to seeing this?

The Eagle Synopsis: A Roman epic adventure, based on the classic novel of the same name, set in the dangerous world of second-century Britain. In 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila (played by Channing Tatum of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Dear John) arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth. Accompanied only by his British slave Esca (Jamie Bell of Defiance and Jumper), Marcus sets out across Hadrians Wall into the uncharted highlands of Caledonia to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his fathers memory, and retrieve the lost legions golden emblem, the Eagle of the Ninth.
The Eagle will be released to theaters February 25, 2011.

It's got a similar look and feel to Centurion...another Roman movie from nearly the identical period, location and subject matter...massacred Legion...Romans getting chased by Picts, etc. Centurion was pretty entertaining, hopefully this one will be too.

Took the afternoon off and picked up my daughter and we went to see the first showing. We had the theater pretty much to ourselves (one other couple). Not bad at all. Some of the scenery of the Scotish Highlands were worth the price of a matinee ticket. It seemed to be pretty historically acurate with the details. I give it a solid B for the storyline and a B+ for the scenery and historical aspects. A good flick."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Thank you Shack. I still haven't found the time to go see it but for a first review here, a B to B+ isn't too bad. Question for ya' though, if it was to be released on 2/25/11, how did you get to see it on the 11th?
What in the heck happened to the wording in the first post? That's weird.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
It opened up here on the 11th in all theaters. They may have changed the date for a variety of reasons."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

If its shot in a grand scale, doesnt appear to portray a large event with small scale sets and cast, it could be right up my alley.
modern movie subjects are so trivial and cookie cutter.
Pukefest hangover bachelor party unfunny comedys, 90 pound women punching and knocking out big bodyguard type guys with one punch.
Even some promising ideas, 2012 is one that comes to mind, is a thinly veiled propaganda piece that relys on mediocre cg in place of crafting a movie.
And for gods sake enough of serious movies with people in stressful, dangerous , life threatening, situations who, right as something horrible is about to happen, somehow are able to crack a stupid joke, then we are supposed to go right back to believing the dire tense situation they are in.
looking forward to seeing a movie about big events, historic achievements, told in an accurate way, thanks for bringing it to our attention.humpty dumpty was pushed -
