Polk audio Monitor series speakers

Hey I'm from Australia and i have a pair of Polk Audio monitor series 2 speakers, they were built in 1991.

the model number is "M7 9010523" and i believe the drivers are stuffed after a party where the Onkyo TX-DS494 was turned up to MAXIMUM all night, no sub or center speaker, just these two beauties filling the whole house with music. They sounded great too until the next morning.

The speakers have always performed hard and i'd love to get them fixed.

I have temporarly fixed a driver using a dodgy super glue job but the other one defiantly needs replacing.

Was wondering how many others have these same speakers and if Polk audio will ship to Australia (i'm NOT PAYING $180 each for drivers locally when they're like $60 US dollars each over here).

Thanks.

hmmmm i was told polk audio still sells these drivers, hopefully to australians which is my main concern (sometimes they screw us by making us pay 2-3 times as much locally).

If all else fails yeah i'll start checking ebay.

personally do you guys think these are worth repairing?

they cost me about $300 to fix when i got given them about 4 years ago (new crossovers, new tweeters, drivers were 'repaired').

up here in Canada, the only way to get parts is through the Canadian service rep. Polk USA wont deal with us so I'm not sure what the situation might be in Aussieland.

Johnny - Email me directly and we'll try and assist you. Highlight my name and choose email.

Gold - There's a reason we utilize our Canadian sales rep and support structure....and if you're not getting proper support, which I doubt beings I know him, then you need to let Polk Audio know. Simple.

CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Heres a photo of one of the drivers.

Now i understand the new 'version' or reproduction of these drivers are the same?

Will i still be able to turn these speakers up loud? hahahaha, thats all that really matters aye..

BTW are crossovers available? I think they're stuffed.

    Haha thanks mate.

This years flooding was horrible but luckily i'm on the other side of the country. I've been to Queensland when it was dry before and the flood level indicators standing tall were scary they went that high.

Sure sounds like Monitor 7 to me. Do they have one black tweeter, one 6.5 inch midbass and a 10 inch passive radiator per cabinet? If so, they are 7s. Good luck with your quest.

Ahh thanks mate, that describes them to a T. I picked these speakers up from a local fleamarket for $30 and one of the crossovers was stuffed, had that fixed and they've sounded really nice since that, but hey everything gets old, i think these are worth fixing so here goes, looks like i'll be upgrading the stuffed crossover parts and adding new drivers. Tweeters should be fine.

however i havent seen pictures of many others around the place, not even when i google it.

Now i can be more certain im getting the right parts as i'm going to re do both crossovers.

DAMMIT i'm up for new tweeters as well, only one of them is an original SL2500 tweeter the other is god knows what piece of crap, absolutely tiny in comparison.

    arghhhhhh!

replace the fake with an original SL2500 is in order.
