Receiver for Garage setup

Looking for an older receiver for my garge setup.
Will be powering some old MTX AAL 212 speakers (fun old college days party speakers), and a pair of OWM3's.
Will be used for gatherings, movie night/sporting events (projector on the wall), background music and for when I'm out in the garage working.
Garage is 44' x 36.5'. Not really sure how beefy of an old receiver that I'll need to power them. Ran the MTX's off of an old Yamaha receiver before, but it has since passed on.
Thanks

I have a nice marantz 2252B in very good condition that I would let you have for $100.00 plus shipping. That would be a nice receiver for a garage set up.

That marantz is way too nice a receiver to be in a garage setup!!! Sell me the Marantz, and I'll give mu1166 my crap JVC RX309TN (plus the CD player that goes with it) for free!

Beautiful... Saul knew how to build 'em. -
I used to lust after those Marantz receivers when I was young! But we're off topic.
I have an old Pioneer 5 channel AVR that may or may not fit the bill. Not sure if I want to part with it or if you'd be interested? It's a VSX-711 (100W/5 but probably more like 55w/5 all channels driven if Pioneer and others were honest in their ratings?).

I think that something along the lines of that Pioneer would be what I'm looking for. Have to stick with something that uses a remote. Those Marantz's are very sweet looking though.
What are you asking for that Pioneer? It shouldn't have any problem powering my old MTX's?AVR: Pioneer Elite SC-67

I look through Craigslist quite often. I'm out in north central Iowa, not a whole lot of electronics dealings go on here.. hehe.
I figured that I would see if anything was for sale around here, and continue looking elsewhere.AVR: Pioneer Elite SC-67

That sucks. There is always something worth it on CList around me.. -

I haven't thought about it. Maybe around a hundred and shipping? The unit is in excellent shape....lightly used with remote and manual...no box though. The only cosmetic flaw is a small half inch scratch on the lower front plate. Unlike more contemporary Pioneers. The older ones have a Metal plate facing. Probably weighs a little over 20 lbs.
How efficient are MTXs? I've driven some not so old KLH floorstanders to reasonably loud volumes with this. But you often have to engage the Loudness/Midnight controls for that to boost the bass?

$30 plus shipping lol
some cheap free sony speakers

I don't remember how hard they were to drive. I bought the yamaha when I purchased the speakers. It wasn't a real expensive model (maybe $400). The last couple years I just unhooked my Onkyo for the superbowl parties, gatherings, etc. Now it's time to just have somthing out there to stop the moving of equipment.
Here is the info that I found on them. Since I don't know that much about it, I'll leave it to someone else's opinion.

Jeezus... if that 93dB sensitivity is right 20 wpc should do ya. Kinda kidding, but that would be a pretty efficient speaker. I'm sure the Pio could handle that.

I think my old yammy was around 80-90 wpc... Or, that's what it was 'rated' at.AVR: Pioneer Elite SC-67

What would shipping be to 50511? Would you take paypal?
Is this the VSX-D711 receiver? I was just looking on Pioneer's website, and that is the model number that I find...AVR: Pioneer Elite SC-67

I agree with the remote control being key. I have a nice Sony (need to check the model number) even has 4 ohm switch on rear for real power I could throw you for $50/plus shipping. Or, I have a mint Denon AV-2500 (Built in Taiwan, not mainland China), beautiful analog sound, can take two center channels, that would make people sit up and take notice for $150/shipping.
Lots of feedback on Emo, A'gon, and had +30 on the old av123 boards. -
Yes, having a remote is a must. Even though it's in a garage, there are mulitple times that we will use it as a surround receiver, etc...AVR: Pioneer Elite SC-67

That's probably the right number (711) not sure what the prefix is. I'll look later tonight. Don't do paypal. But a check or money order would be fine. I'll have doro and the guys kick my A$$ if I don't deliver on this. Just kidding.
Let me check all this shipping stuff out. I'm going to have to get some packing boxes and bubble wrap, foam, etc. Won't charge for the materials. Only for shipping? Probably will UPS? Let me get back to you in a PM. Maybe tomorrow or so..after I figure all this out. We'll be shipping from Maine to Iowa...that's where you are right?
More later. I'll send a PM and if I can find my wife's camera I'll try to take some pics? The unit comes with Manual and Original Remote (a nice remote--similar to some of the higher model remotes for Pioneer in that period). The FM connection is a dual wire input. I don't have the original antenna for that but you can use any long wire to the terminal. I do have some spare AM squares I can include?
