AT-HDAiR Stream PC /Laptop video to TV

This is the unit I have been thinking of buying. I have watched the various videos, but they do not mention whether you have to set your monitor for connect to a projector.
My main laptop has been **** up when I do this and have tried hardiwring into the TV from the VGA port.
The only real criticism I have seen of the AT-HDAIR is that you need a close line of sight between the transmitter and receiver....that is not an issue for me.
If you have a better product, let me know.
