I have here a very nice example of a Hafler DH-200. It has been owned since new by a buddy of mine. It came to me when we swapped some equipment around.

It worked well in by buddies man cave, it but I put it on my bench today and checked it out on the scope. The wave forms are flawless, it's silent at idle and it sounds great. I added a grounded IEC power cord jack a few years ago but otherwise it is original. $150 plus shipping.

That photo is in focus. You need to get your prescription checked.

The top panel had my buddies Name and DL number scratched into it. I sanded that down, filled the scratches with primer and sprayed it with black. It looks good enough for a top panel IMO but you should know it's not perfect.

It weighs about 27 lbs unboxed from zip code 85053.

Was this amp Hafler built or a home built kit? Looks very cool and if I had a use for it I'd be very tempted ! GLWS

Haflers are very nice sounding pieces. As noted above, this seems to have been a KIT piece (but it says that it was also available assembled for twice the kit price). It puts out 100 Watts/channel into 8 ohms. Does anyone know if it is also 4 ohm rated or capable?

That had not crossed my mind. I asked and it turns out my buddy had a friend assemble it for him. I got my loop out and looked it over real good for cold solder joints and the like and could find no defects and the build quality is really very good. I wonder if the two circuit cards might have came from Hafler already populated and soldered.

Anyway, my hat's off to the builder. This was built in the 80s so I would think that 25 or 30 years of trouble free service speaks well for the builders abilities.

I was thinking about mounting a miniplug jack on the front and using it as a ipod/iphone amp for the patio. It's got enough gain to operate without a preamp and the ipod/iphone has a volume control. That heavy steel chassis could be bolted down to prevent someone from walking off with it.

That thing'll do 4 ohms all day long.

    Neat amps the DH120, SE120, and DH200.

That's right. George, you NEED this. Really.

BTW, that Shure cartridge turned out well with the new stylus.

I use a DH-200 to drive a set of RTA-12B speakers which are 4 ohm speakers and dip lower at certain frequencies, pretty tough load for an amp. The Hafler does a very good job!
