Its a great player. Glad you are liking it. Wait till you hear it with a nice set of analog cables. I like the Signal Cable Analog 2, but you can get w/e you want. Get some opinions before buying.
Definitely check the 2900 threads for my set-up comments for DVD-A and SACD. And download Denon's .pdf document for set-up too.
I have the following titles so far:
Pink Floyd DSOTM - SACD
Billy Joel The Stranger - SACD
Steely Dan Everything Must Go - DVD-A
Donald Fagan Nightfly DVD-A
Boston - SACD (2 channel only)
Fleetwood Mac Rumours - DVD-A
Eagles Hell Freezes Over - DTS 5.1
Indigo Girls Becoming You - SACD
Donald Fagan Kamkiriad is on deck in DVD-A. I was disappointed with Boston; the SQ could be better. Other than that, all other titles have been incredible.

My DVD player has been begging me to replace it lately, and I'm fairly decided to check out this 2900. My only hesitation is in paying a grand for a player that plays DVD-A and SACD when the reality is that I more than likely wouldn't ever buy one of those types of discs. I listen to techno/house/trance music I'd say 99% of the time, and I wouldn't anticipate that my type of music would be released on those 2 formats......
Question is.......is it still worth the extra coin?comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
It's the least expensive player they make with the Silicon Image decoding engine. But if you are not into high res audio, the $1000 price tag is much harder to swallow."What we do in life echoes in eternity"

So if looking at it from a video only standpoint, (realizing that I don't have a HDTV right now), is the PQ so superior that it's worth spending double or triple what you can get another player with?
If not, what would another really good player that will do video well now, but also grow into a HDTV should I get one in the near future?comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
If you don't have HDTV, you don't even need a progressive scan player, much less a DVD-2900. Save your money until you get an HDTV and then invest in a player with a great PQ. For now, buy a cheapy DVD player that is reliable and does DD and DTS and be done with it.

You could get a Denon 2800, which is the what the 2900 replaced. It doesn't have SACD or DVD-A, and since it's discontinued, you can get it on the cheap.
