My subwoofer project is still very much under construction but it is just to damn cold

So now I have a new project

I am going to refinish these Tyler Acoustic monitors... basically rebuild these babies! Woo Hoo

Going to strip off the lacquer, then the paint - sand it down a little bit to smooth it out...

Probably going to just do a nice Satin finish - may stain it or something, not sure really - but I think it will look better than Black

Of course the crossovers are being done up right :)

Should be an excellent set of monitors when I am done with them! WHAT WHAT?

    Here is the modded crossover

I tell ya what - attached three wires, two, resistors and a cap in a p-2-p connection is a PITA and looks like ****... lol

The inductors that are floating - they will be attached to the enclosure walls as far from other inductors as possible...

A man who has too many projects is a man who's brain is working well and maybe even in overdrive.

Keep planning, trying and doing. It will keep you younger. And your life will be fuller and more interesting than the couch potatoes' life for sure!

I love molding crossovers man... It is like therapy. As far as staying busy... Working over sixty hours a week takes care of that haha

Oh, I forgot you got that new I-toy. I thought you were at home posting, wondering how you managed to get a Saturday off.

Super productive day... Ty can cake on some paint I tell ya what. Took almost exactly 8hours but the oak is here! Just need to do some sanding but I think I am going to stain it red oak or a reddish stain then satin clear it... Bunch of sanding in-between... I am pretty excited to see the finished product and hear the differences.

I will post some pics here in a sec...

Reconditioning of these monitors part 1

I couldnt get it all out - but... I think with some darker stain and the black lines in the grain from the paint it should look pretty sweet! :)

Alright - they are all but finished, just waiting on some new logos from Ty!

The oak kind of popped up while sanding between poly coats - but I actually dig it, gives it somewhat of a vintage/worn look... They look great in a room and the finish is smoooooth

I would like to point out the oak showing through is not near as obvious in person, the flash highlights it --- and the grain is super defined.
