Just bought first pair of 10B's

Right-side speaker seems not to have quite the same output causing the stereo image to lean toward the left.

After listening carefully it seemed the right tweeter had much lower output.

The seller said he blew one tweeter, but replaced both so I hoped that it would simply be tweeter leads connected wrong.

Looking at the removed tweeter the white lead was connected to (-) side and the black lead connected to the (+) side. This did not make sense to me so I reversed it.

The tweeter output seemed stronger and I felt brilliant.

Then I was wondering how the other tweet was connected - it was the same: white (-) and black (+), so I reversed connections. Really couldn't tell any difference.

Does anyone know which is the proper connection?

Just so we are talking apples and apples:

I switched the leads on both tweeter back the way they were.

Stereo image moved to left again.

On the rear of the tweeter, where the lead wire clips on, there is something resembling a plus in the black plastic tweeter base. Is this really a "+" that identifies the positive terminal?

Maybe is just my 70 year old ears (or mind), but it sounds slightly better (truer imaging) to me when these leads are reversed.

I have a lifetimes experience of buying other peoples crap, so I guess I did it again with these 10B's

Are these fused on the back? If not,,and you are sure that you have two of the same model tweeter, then it may be in the crossover,,possibly a polyswitch if these are not fused.Let us know and we can get you squared away. Welcome to Club Polk
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

    No fuses on the back.

Both are SL 2000tweeters, altho' one is dated 1998 and the other 1994

Another way to identify the proper polarity is to trace the wire down into the xover assembly and subsequent binders. It's a bit more time consuming but will solve all your problems.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
