because of budget concerns, always looking for multitaskers.
Trying to step up to a quality 2 channel rig, i am prepared to pay what i can afford for a quality used cd player after hearing the difference it makes while visiting jerryj12.
Yes, he has a gorgeous 7500 dollar tube amp and quality pre, but the jolida cdp he was using made such a difference from even his high quality tt.
I was wondering if it would be a mortal mistake to think of trying to use an oppo or similar quality bluray, thereby getting a quality bluray as well, or will i regret it as i eventually build pieces around the cdp.
Eventually i will have some sort of tube gear, jerrys stuf was such an eye opener.

You can get a Jolida used a lot cheaper than you can an Oppo SE unit which you would want if you want to do double duty, i.e., film and 2 channel?
I have no idea how they would compare. I've heard that latest and greatest Jolida...which is the Music Van CDP and can recommend it without any hesitation. But that's going to come in a little under the 1K price point?
I'm sure some Oppo 8XSE owners will chime in!

I'm assuming you're referring to the regular oppo 83. For 2 channel I'd look for a dedicated cdp/sacd player. I have the regular 83 and a rotel 1072 and I like the Rotel better for 2 channel listening and it's cheaper than the oppo.

For 2ch a nice used CD player will sound more musical than the Oppo.
Something like this Arcam player would be good.

I cant speak for the regular Oppo BDP83 but i can say that the BDP83 SE Nuforce Edition is a stellar cd player. It comes in a close second behind my Arcam CD37 which retailed at over $2000.Onkyo TX NR 5008 modified by The Upgrade Company
