I suggest posting this question on the Emo forum, as they will be more***cough*** knowlegeable about it than us.

I am sure you will get a lot of opinions on this forum about Emotiva amps. Some good and others bad.

The only thing I can recomend you to do is to buy one and see if you like it. If you buy new I think they still have the 30 day trial.

this is a possible trade, I just read a "spirited" debate about emos on another thread, it can get so complicated, especially when you factor in price, when on a budget many of the higher recommended stuf are out.

The one thing i heard most was some folks really dont think much of emos for music, better suited for ht.

Im looking to put together a quality 2 channell rig, mainly for music, so im thinking i wil respectfully decline the offer of a trade.

Any suggestions of a 400 dollar or so amp to begin my rig.

Adcom/ Carver TFM series... I would stretch a bit on the budget if at all possible and try and grab a Nakamichi Stasis... Great amps with a Nelson Pass pedigree to boot.

The Pa-7's are the most desired, and can be had around 750...

Another good call would be the Sunfire 300/2's at around the same price.

Very hard to give an opinion when I don't know what speakers you have, size of room, and what volume level you like.

    How about a Carver M-500t?

    I have a upa 5

I have used it for 3 movies and 2 hours of music

I dont know if it needs a break in but I lost all my lovely airy electrostatic sound my martin logans produce . I prefer to use the amp on my pioneer receiver because it sounds warmer

In a nutshell I think it would be ok for driving cone speakers that are warm . but for me it sounds really bright and does not do very well to separate sounds

The amp runs super cool and is bomb proof . One thing me and my wife both talked about was the bright trashy lights , super tasteless that would only look high end in a trailer park . I would do somthing about it If I planned to keep it

I have been reading audiogon and they are being sold for $460 to $490 . This is a ridiculous price for a amp that I got shipped to my door for 4 bricks ,but people are willing to pay

You know there is a switch on the back of the amp to turn the LED's off.

    I did not know that

If only there was a switch to make it less bright

You would be able to get your $$ back out at that price if you decided it wasn't for you.
