I ordered 2 pr (but only need 3 cables) of Atlas Equator MK II 2 RCA to 2 RCA Audio Cables for the connection between my XPA-3 amp and AVR.
Depending on how these work out I may order more to upgrade the connection from my sacd player to the avr.
I read a few reviews on the Atlas Equators and thought I would try them out.
Atlas cables are made in Scotland, I am half Scotish, so I guess I am supporting them.

Anyone use these or heard of them before?

Never heard of them, but I did click on the link and see they have a good selection. Didn't see any prices though. I liked the Asimi. Let us know how they sound.HT SYSTEM-

I hooked up my Atlas cables to the amp and I instantly noticed that the the edge that the Emotiva amp was giving my system has been toned down.
The last 2 days I have been listening to my Sony 5400ES reciever with the Emo amp unpluged. I did this as I wanted to get the original sound that I was use to in my ears and then add the amp and then the cables.
I also was a little puzzeled with the sound quality that the amp and reciever paired together were making while playing music, I found it a tad on the shrilling side. It was not overly bright or overbearing, but more digital or less warm sounding and was not what I was use to!
I hooked the amp back up and gave a listen to a few records today; the music sounded good as it had a wider sound stage and a definite dose of whump to it. I was still put off a bit by the vocals. I tried, Carly Simon, Elton John and Carol Pope (Rough Trade). After listening a few hours in the afternoon, I went out for a coffee and then came home and got back at it.
I hooked up the new Atlas cables and put the same records back on the turntable to have a listen. I instanly noticed that the shrill had been taken away and that a more warm or analoge sound was coming out of the speakers. The voice was still prevelant, but not to the point of overpowering. The highs were flattened out and the mids and bass smoothed out. SO with the additon of the amp and cables I have a wider sound stage, more whomp and a nice analog sound. I may have gone about this the wrong way and I may dig a little deeper in the amp sound but for now I am happy.
I am listening to Nirvana, Nevermind ORG records (ORG32) release and it sounds really good. Not shrilling or flat.
I have changed a lot of things in my system so I will give it some time and see what comes out of itr a few days.
My son is coming over in the next week to hang out for a few days. We will have a few soda pops and I will get a second opinion from him as he has not heard what it sounds like with the amp or the cables.
About the cables, quality well made cable, smooth analog sound which emphasize mids and bass. Of course all of this is my own opinion and how I interpret/voice my thoughts.
The saga continues! Thanks for reading! -
