It's OK. I just can't get into the "actors in harnesses" type action film. This one is so painfully slow moving that they might as well be 100 years old when fighting. I am a comic book fan, so perhaps more critical of the storyline problems....no need to bother.

Soundtrack is definetly great and the movie IS entertaining ....so that's about all I can ask for. X-Men, while even worse for storyline context, is still the best comic book movie to date.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    2) Audio - DTS soundtrack SPECTACULAR. Detail, surround use, and bass. Did I say BASS? This DVD has so much near-subsonic bass it immediately rises to the level of "subwoofer classic demo". I'm not talking about typical 35 Hz explosion stuff - I'm talking 18-22 Hz ULTRA deep visceral bass that you can't always reliably hear, but is so strong it pressurizes your ears, rattles **** in the room, and blurs the image on the HDTV. AMAZING. If you don't have a reference sub, you might be asking yourself if this movie has any bass at all - it's THAT deep.

    3) I thought the movie was great for its genre - at least as good as Spiderman, if not better. Quite enjoyable.

This is a reference quality disc for HT - VERY impressive.

    LOTR-FOTR-EE DTS ES 6.1 Discrete

Both will give your 202 a good work-out.

Since the whole movie is about a man who uses hearing to see with pinpoint accuracy,I was mildly disappointed the sound [5.1] dint transfer that sensation….lost opportunity
    I think.

I think it is great to own at least a couple of "show the system off" movies.

But in the end, it comes down to the story, especially for me to want to own it.

All in all, this sounds like a stinker... I think I'll wait a couple of months until it goes to $0.99/5days.

My wife rented Gangs of New York yesterday and we watched it last night. Not the greatest movie of all time, but I was certainly into it and interested and enjoyed the story. I'm not even sure I paid much attention to bass and effects.

As one who really enjoyed this film I added the Directors Cut to my collection today. 30 minutes of added footage.

    Has anyone seen it yet?
    If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent.
