Well I am digging around in these Tyler monitors ---

Ty used a 15 watt 8 ohm resistor and a 25 watt 15 ohm resistor in the woofer network on these speakers...

Would you want to stay around the 20 watt mark or do I need to jump into the 50 watt range?

Thoughts...

Just so everyone knows - I already dropped the Hovland from my Super Towers in these lil monsters! HAHAHA - I am addicted to modding

Drop a few of these bad boys in there ? ;)

Those 50 watt Mills are rated at 25 watts maximum without a heatsink, so they would be fine for what you want to use them for.

    Excellent information!

I havent decided how far I want to dive into these monitors. The woofer, while nice, most likely would not benefit to heavily from a crossover upgrade...

The tweeter is very nice and the improvement was immediate going from a Solen to the Hovland. It amazes me still how a cheap cap can smear the high end of a speaker.

I think you'd find that it will.

FYI, don't use the 50 watt Mills in a high frequency circuit.

Most definitely, I am leaving the 10 watt non inductive eagle. I actually like that resistor alot even though it is only 1.50 -- the synergy in my super towers for whatever reason is off the charts...

Do you think just swapping out the resistors would yield a benefit? Or do you think doing all the parts would help?

It's like Chuck says, everything matters. Since you're deep into the modding madness, maybe try the resistors first, then the caps.

They don't come in the values I would need.

Here is the original crossover with the Hovland thrown in there - kind of a crappy install since I was adding it in in 5.5" hole ;)
