Looking for a nice mini system for my office as I have pretty thick walls and like good music going while I work. At this point its pretty much a draw in my eyes but I wanted to see if anyone has used or owned either unit? Thoughts? Quality? iPod quality? Radio signal quality? Please share

Hi, Big. Sorry for the delay.

I've heard both of these systems, and they both do different things well. I never got a chance to get into the menus, etc. of the Denon, but my history with the brand tells me that they're going to be less . . . intuitive.

On the other hand, Onkyos are very easy to use and very logically laid out. This matters, even with a mini system.

But if the bottom line is sound quality, I'm going to have to go with the Denon. I think it has a smoother sound, which I prefer, than the Onkyo. The Onkyo has a sound that could be discribed as "clear" but I think it's sharp and a tad bright.

So, although this ultimately comes down to taste, if I were to get one, it would be at the Denon.

    Does that help?

Good to be seen, CNH. It's been awhile since I've done the ol' audio forum thing, but it's good to be back in the saddle.

Thanks for the recommendation, I wish BB sold the systems but all they have is plastic box systems from sony exc.... Will do a bit more research and hope to have one of them by the end of next month. These Logitech speakers on my desk are not cutting it.

Just heard that the highly rated DM38 is being replaced this month with the new Denon D-M39DAB, will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the Onkyo
