Samsung 42.

I just bought a new tv. I picked up a samsung 42 inch plasma 450 series.
It says that it is a 720p tv. It will play all of my 1080p videos though, my ps3 will display at 1080p....eventhough it is a 720p tv.

I am curious how this is?

    It downconverts it to 720p.
    Just about any tv now will accept any signal and convert it to the native resolution. You aren't gaining anything here. If anything you're losing since it has to reconvert the signal.

    Exactly. Your set displays everything at it's native resolution (720p).
