B&K PT-5 Preamp

The PT-5 has both the balanced and unbalanced pre-outs. This unit is in 8.5/10 condition, with a .5 deducted for lack of original power cord. The remote is included for those of use whose arms are less than 10 ft long and whose eyesight has started to fail. It is the more popular black version. These B&K’s do not have phone inputs, so you might want to team this up with my NAD PP-2 that is also listed for sale. I found this to have excellent synergy with the listed NAD C270 amp and Polk CRS+’s.

Please, avoid the urge to PM me with easily googled questions regarding the NAD amp or any other piece of gear and then expect me to ship it half way across the country. The prices are fair for local buyers who will have the opportunity to inpect the gear, try it out for a fair period of time, and return it if desired. I will not ship any of this gear, I do not need to part with it that badly.

BTW, I tried my Yaquin tube buffer with the B&K like it looks like you use. I liked it quite a bit, not necessarily better, but it had very nice sound. I plan to keep the buffer to play around with.

I've been thinking about taking it out of the loop and seeing what that does for me.

I'm beginning to think that the tube buffer is really only softening the badly-recorded albums, which isn't a bad thing, for sure. I haven't had listening fatigue in over a year now, which is nice.

I actually run mine between my CDP and the preamp, though, giving me a rough copy of some of the tubed output cdps i guess.

Met up with Rob (Quadzilla) again today - last time was when he picked up a set of LS-50's. After he scored his CRS+'s from me, he mentioned that he'd re-capped the 50's and they really sing. "Sounds" like that is worth a thread of it's own. I might just do my 90's after hearing of his success.

At any rate, I wanted to thank Rob for his transactions with me as both have been silky smooth and he has been very accomadating of my schedule. I wish I had time to shoot the breeze, but work is demanding during these ice storms.

I finally found time to meet up with Dave to get the B&K. Hooked it up to my Carver tfm-55 driving my 1C's last night and...let's just say I'm very happy based on the 10 minutes or so that I listened.

Nice talking with you Dave. The drive home took me about half as long as the drive getting there. No traffic at all heading home.

I tried to leave positive feedback, but it doesn't appear to be working. I'll try again another time.
