Up against a wall
OK. So I have Monitor 50s picked out for the fronts. I am going to go 7.1. I want to go with Monitor 30s for the surrounds and rears. My only problem is that I have to put them up against the wall with maybe a inch gap between the back of the speaker and the wall. Is this going to hurt the performance much as they are just surrounds and rears? I know I have played around with Monitor 40s and, for the mains, they seem to like almost a foot space from the wall. If it is a big deal, I will have to go with something front ported. Like the RTi line. Which brings my budget up considerably.
Thanks!
Thanks!

That will be fine. You are going to cross the rears over at 80-100hz anyway. The port doesn't really come into play that much there.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I didn't think so but, I wanted to be sure. And like I said, there will be a little gap there.

Yeah I have my Monitor 40's like 2 inches from the back wall and notice no difference at all..."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)

Thanks 'Shadow! I am going to use my Monitor 40s as a template for positioning. If those work out, I might just get another pair of 40s to complete the set. Size is my main concern now.Things are more like they are now than they ever will be!
