I'm currently running my rti 10 rti4 and csi3 with a onkyo 876. Would it be worth upgrading to a NAD T975? And would it be to much power for my rti 4's? Thanx In advance guys.

Cheers, John

Seems like an excellent choice to me!

If you're concerned because it exceeds the recommended amplification of the RTi4s, don't be. You'll not be cranking that much power to surrounds.

The NAD would be a good choice.

Will I notice any significant difference sound wise going with the NAD (Onkyo 876 as a pre amp) as both put out 140 watts per channel? My rig is mainly used for movies, no 2 channel music.

It depends on how discerning of an ear you have. I watched Inception last night at a pretty good volume, and I'm not sure if the AVRs I've had could "bring it" on their own like my current setup with an amp does. That said, I'm hard-pressed to discern the subtle nuances in movie soundtracks that I can notice in music.

Onkyo makes nice receivers but not on the level of the NAD especially for sound quality and dynamic range. You will notice a increase in overall clarity of your system bringing out the very best your speakers can be.

Their are watts and then NAD watts which are real power. NAD maybe ugly to look at but they perform better then most.

I'm afraid that using your Onkyo as a pre will only hinder the performance of the NAD amp. I suggest replacing it with this instead of your current thinking of upgrading. This is a much better overall choice for your system.
