Anyone Ever Try Any RT12 Mods?

I had a long post written about my history with these RT12s, but I'll sum it up like this: A friend had them, barely used them, and was in such a hurry to move that he was going to haul them to the dump. I took them home and, after auditioning them, didn't quite have a role for them in my audio set up (as speakers). They're now completely out of service and are essentially acting as speaker stands for the monitors that I'm using in the rear. However, that does seem like a travesty because they aren't bad, they just don't match my current speakers and that's kind of a big deal for surround music. Since getting a new receiver, I've freed up a receiver and an amp, and thought that I might use those in a second zone or use them for a way over-qualified set of PC speakers. But I thought that before I set out on that adventure, I'd ask if anyone has done any modifications to them, specifically to the cabinets.

I think that they would be great, but I can really hear the cabinets at certain frequencies, and I find that needlessly distracting. I've done some DIY projects, but never anything that was supposed to actually sound good :) Has anyone ever tried additional bracing? Is there any way to dampen that resonance?

Aside from cabinet mods, I was thinking about getting a couple full-range plate amps to make them powered, but that's just way too expensive to do "because I can." Anyone added a sub to them? There's a lot of box there to work with, but I can imagine that none of the drivers would like sharing space, but I don't know! I just have these speakers sitting there and it makes me vaguely sad for them ;)

Thanks! I'm looking forward to this forum; these are the first polks I've had... they definitely draw more comments than my smaller monitors, that's for sure ;)
