Which speaker is best for very loud music. If you have any other ideas drop them in as well, my budget is up to aroud 1200 dollars for fronts.

Interesting question.... I guess it's probably subjective, but I wouldn't consider either of those for "very loud music". I've got the Monitor 70's, and don't get me wrong - they are great speakers, but I also realize these are great budget speakers. I might even go as far as to say high-end budget speakers. But they are just that.

What do you plan on powering these speakers with? I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say that you are probably underpowering these, and the speaker isn't going to be the bottleneck.

Do you want loud, or do you want good quality?

If you want loud go drop some money on cerwin vegas...

If you want good quality go with Polk..Both you mentioned are very good.

Im actually going to buy a new receiver, and a 500 watt 2 way amp to power my fronts so roughly 250 per channel. Im looking at a Denon at the time, and as far as loud and clarity, Im almost certain you can get both without sacrificing either one of the two. And I will not buy Cerwin Vega, not that theyre not good, but Im a Polk fan.

Then I think you will be very happy with either setup. I'm leaning towards telling you the 70's, but that is a 1-sided review.

Generally, any "loudest speaker I can get" questions also involve questions about bi-amping and 50 wpc receivers. Sounds like you are on the right track to get what you want. I've got the 70's, pushing roughly 90wpc, and I can literally make things on my walls shake. Double that output, and I'm sure you will be more than pleased. It won't fill a stadium, but it's more than adaquite for the random house party or theater night.

For 1200 dollars you can do much better than Monitor 70s....

You should go find a used pair of 1.2TLs, then you'll have some loud speakers.

You can go loud and have good quality, but generally you have to invest quite a bit.

That is a good preamp, good amplifier(s), hefty interconnects and wire, and high power handling speakers.

The Monitor 70s are good, but you can do much better.

B Run

I like the Monitor 70's better personally. Get some Klipsch Rf-82's if you want some speakers that can handle lots of power and get really loud. I'm definitely a polk fan too but you have to be more careful at very loud volumes not to clip a tweeter, especially in the monitor line. You should be a lot less prone with an amp but it can still happen.

I was actually looking at some Klipsch Rf-82's believe it or not. Im not familiar with any of thier products though. At the time I have a psw110, cs10, and a set of Ti15's. Im gonna go look for some 1.2tl's and check them out. Im about to put an addition on my house at the end of the year, and my living room will be opened up to 15x40, so I want loud to fill up not only the house but the neighborhood as well.

1.2tl's are way too big those are out.

B Run

They're pretty much the opposite of my polks but I like their sound. A lot of people think they're too bright and even fatiguing so i'd try to get your ears on some first and see if they're your style.

Just found a set of rf-82's, for sale for 234 dollars, but I also found a pair of a9's, for 500 and I love the look of the a9. Im gonna go check out those Klipsch tomorrow, see if I like the sound, noticed that the tweeter is a horn tweet, and I dont know what that will sound like.

Maybe you should give some specifications on what you want.

How big... preferences for sound, etc. Otherwise we can keep giving you suggestions out the wazoo.

Big sound....you need big speakers. I find it odd that 1.2TLs would be too big in a 15x40 room.

Try some LSi 15s.. those will handle some crazy power, and are the highest quality sound from Polk. You should be able to find some in your price range if you look hard enough.

Just about all Klipsch speakers are horns...

A9's will definitely get loud, and handle 500w per channel with no problem (clean power).

As stated, don't clip them or you can roast the drivers.

I know Im thinking aesthetics as well, 1.2tl's just look cumbersome, specifications, umm I lilsten to metal, I want to be able to hear the guitar solo perfectly, been playing for 7 years, very important, I want to not only hear the bass but feel it as well, I want the speakers to be reliable, at a high volume but not sound like crap when turned down. Not sure what else to put in what are you looking for me to ask, or maybe you ask me and Ill tell you what Im looking for. Im new at this whole home audio thing so I just want the best for the long run, something I will always be proud to crank up. Hope that helps.

What are you going to use as preamp/amp?

Yes 1.2TLs are large, but they're large for the sound they make. For metal/rock horns will sound very good and forward actually.

Metal is pretty compressed music however - it's not going to do a lot of speakers justice. I can't say I'd play that on LSi's for fear of blowing the tweeters.

If you want to feel bass you're going to need speakers with a lot of driver area, and the power to push it.

My wife told me that the 1.2TL's would be the best, due to the number of spkrs, and size, she said theyve got to be loud as hell, and if she says ok to them then Ill say ok.
