A buddy of mine said that the tweeters in both of his bookshelf speakers are bad. He said he mainly notices it at lower volumes, kinda like a scratchy sound is how he described it. Well I hooked up one of the speakers here at my house with more power going to the speaker then he drives them with. I could not reproduce any of the sounds he described. I tired all kinds of music and at different volumes and it sounded fine. He said they just recently started making the sound. I told him maybe it could be the receiver but he said no way lol:rolleyes: So what do you guys think? Thanks! Dohhhhhh!!! I just realized I posted this in speakers instead of troubleshooting, must not be awake yet lol.

You might ask him if the scratchy sound is similar to the sound of a shorted speaker wire. Has he tried changing his wiring to eliminate that? Perhaps dust in the volume pot?

Yeah I'll have him check his wiring as well just to be sure. I was also thinking about the dust issue as it is an older receiver. I'm gonna take him over some speakers next week to see if it does the same thing with the other speakers, thanks!
