I am 57 years old and never got into Steely Dan.
Not sure why, but last year I bought a used CD. From then on, I have purchased the whole collection and am now a big fan.

    Mike,

Do yourself a favor and pick up Jim Hall Concierto as well as Di Meola, De Lucia, McLaughlin: Friday Night in San Francisco.

Haven't bought it yet, but my very next album will be "Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms".

This album came out when I was in high school and while I liked the songs, I was more into Van Halen and the like than Dire Straits back then, but now I'm ready to enjoy it.

For me, the best stuff on that album is the stuff that never gets played on the radio.

I can assure you Jimmy Page didn't learn from Leo Kottke, but I do like alot of his stuff.

They could have listened to the same people and Kottke was known for his open tuning style. But since he was basically unknown and a local Midwestern player I doubt very much JP knew of him, let alone ever heard anything by him.

Scotty Moore, James Burton, Bert Jansch, Elmore James, B.B. King, Freddie King, Otis Rush, etc have all been sited as Page's influences...........so it's possible they listened to the same artists.

Over the last 2-3 years I've been building up my CD collection. All I had before was some '80's-'90's metal and grunge. There's virtually a limitless gold mine of music out there if you're willing to try new genres. I'm friggin amazed at the music I passed up in the day... the list is too long to post here.

    Damn you're good...

Been a while, but the last for me was Iggy Pop. Never liked that scrawny, shirtless punk anytime I'd seen/ heard him.

I came across his Lust for Life CD while cruising the virtual bins during BMG's going-out-of-business sale and the review was too damn compelling to resist...

Best $6 I'd spent on music in a while... It totally shocked me just how good it was.
    More later,
    Tour...

I'd always been an Eagles fan and was aware of Dan Fogelberg but didn't know much about his music. Got Fogelberg's Souvenirs album at a flea mrkt last week and was suprised to see Joe Walsh, Don Henley, and Glenn Frey played and sang on it. I've been spinning it alot and really enjoy it. Any recommendations for other Fogelberg albums?
