Question about CP/sent messages

Perhaps it's an issue with my settings, but whenever I reply to a private message, the text of my reply doesn't appear as part of the message being replied to in my inbox, even though the original message is marked as being replied to by me. Except maybe once.
When I send a private message, nothing shows up in my sent message folder.
Can someone help me with this?

USER CP then SETTINGS & OPTIONS then EDIT OPTIONS
Then check the boxes and save and you should be good to go. -
