Very interesting article Toolforlifefan, thanks for bringing this to CP. I'm looking into various sound treatments for the HT room and learning more each day what's available out there. I could easily spend $1200.00 on traps and panels, diffuser etc... I was looking at the Rives Audio site last night and looked at the PARC units they sell, sweet, but not cheap, lol.

Like the PARC in that it is meant to deal with bass modes but is much more affordable and much easier to set up. -
Yes FTGV, I've been researching various sub eq's for months now, even looked at Behringer DEQ-2496 Pro when a fellow polkster had one for sale in the Flea Market.:) If I can find a 8033C under 200 bucks,I'll probably buy it. Lots of good reviews on it:)

I've messed with a few resonant bass absorbers. The main problem is that they have to be tuned to your problem frequency and be in exactly the right spot, and they don't take out that much energy. So while those might work in some rooms, it would be a lucky coincidence.
There's a product that uses a combined panel resonator and helmoltz. The panel responds at a broad range of freqs and it uses the helmholtz to kill off the captured energy. It was originally called the springzorber- you might be able to find the AES paper.

I'll google up SpringTrap and see what info is out there. I did notice someone is selling their set of Argent Room Lens on A-gon.
