Hi there polkies, need some advice from the wised ones who has owned a HK 254 in setting my speakers crossover .....I' ve done a lot of research but still have doubts....First I have M70 fronts , Cs2 , M40 rears and a RW Acoustic Audio 10" sub...Done the ezeq setup and the receiver is setting my fronts to large ---center to 80hz --- rears to large and sub to present........ I have a 13 x 10 condo living room but my ceiling are really high .... receivers distance readings are perfect....I've read that most polkies set their speakers to small but do not have that option on setup.....Just large and a variety of crossover settings for each speaker, and sub dont have hz options on receiver just only if you set the fronts to large , then it has a L/R + LFE or LFE option...So I set them at 80 hz F-L....100 hz Center and sorrounds at 100hz and my sub to present...Bought a SPL meter and went to the process in setting the speaker levels to 75db , defaulting receivers speaker levels to 0 and using my left speaker as reference to achieve my reference level...That work cause the levels were off....guess to my high ceilings...Pop the 300 BD on DD hd but the sound is not quite right...The monitors and sorrounds are performing well but my sub is low and not kicking the way it should....But cant figure out why my sub its not performing well............I do have the knob 12 o'clock on crossover and gain on sub...Just want to know if my hz settings on the receivers is hurting the sub into sounding like that ? Or just need to get a better sub ? Thanks polkies

What negative reviews? Certainly not for sound quality. Maybe you mean 'reliability' problems?

Hey, HK 254 sounds and looks awesome after you update the firmware. I have it pushing the RM6750 5 peice speaker system with a PSW110 subwoofer. I used the mic included with the HK254 to calibrate my speakers. It works great and sounds good.
