I have 600 dollars to spend on speakers, I have a cs10 center, psw111 sub, 2 T15 bookshelf spkrs and just got rid of 2 broke monitor 60's, I want floorstanding spkrs, not sure on what to purchase. I listen to heavy metal, wome rap, and will be using Blue ray, xbox 360 and obviously tv. Want a good set that will sound good with all these applications what do you guys suggest. Oh yeah I have a Yamaha rcvr. HTR-6230 not sure of the watts pre channel but it does the job, so with all that suggestions?

Rti 8's or A7's...but that receiver is a tad on the light side and I don't think it has preouts to add an amp,so you can only go so big in the floorstander dept. Few curious questions though my good man. Why did the M60's break ? How do you have the bluray player hooked up ?HT SYSTEM-

First off how did you break your Monitor 60's. Are they blown? Tweeters/drivers or both? Sounds like you don't have enough power and are overdriving your receiver.
Heavy Metal, and Rap are usually very bass heavy and may have clipped your amp causing the 60's to blow.
The Monitor 60's can handle a lot of clean power and match the rest of your equipment pretty well. I really think you should start by getting a more powerful AVR or get one with pre outs and run a seperate 2 ch. amp for your mains when you rock out with metal.
I still understand you need your mains. Check out the polkdirect eBay store which has great deals on refurbs directly from Polk. -
Speakers broke during my move from Camp Lejeune to my home here in SC, the boxes were all messed up, speakers were torn, it was a complete loss. Im thinking about monitor 70's. I do need a new rcvr but I have no idea what to look for as far as a rcvr. My blueray is hooked up as follows, HDMI to my TV, and a digital audio cable from my blue ray to my rcvr. I also have another digital audio cable hooked up to my rcvr as well, coming from the tv. I found out that the sound coming from the Blueray player is much better than that coming from the tv. I have looked at the ebay store and the monitor 70's are looking like a good choice, Im gonna post pics of my system here pretty soon, so you guys can have a look, but not until I get my spkrs. Hey what If i were to get 2 sets of mon 60's to one set for my fronts another for surrounds. Would that work, I want something loud, clear, and only polk. Also looking at getting another psw111, so Ill have 2 of them so keep that in mind but that wont be until the summer. Thanks for the imput and let me know what ya think.
