After a lot of reading, and some listening, I'm about to buy a pair a Energy RC-50. I have read many good reviews, also from people in this forum. I'd prefer the RC-70 but couldn't find anywhere. Anyway, the RC-50 are $270 at vanns and I believe this a no brainer.

But, I have found this, http://www.electronics-depot.com/jamo_c607.htm how do they compare tho the energy RC's? Any opinions on this Jamo line? Is not possible for me to listen to them. Is this place reliable?

Thanks!

That was my first option, two M70 series II in black and also a CS2, but thought the RC-50 would be an improvement over the monitor/TSi which I currently have, or am I wrong?

the RC should be better than the Monitor line, and I would think the Jamo's would be as well. I personally think that the C400 series has a nicer sound than the Monitor series so I would imagine that the C600 series would be better as well. at least in two channel.. I"m not impressed with the Jamo C series centers whcih only have 4.5" woofers.

I would call the RTiA a much better loudspeaker than the RC series from Energy. The Monitor is on par from my experience.

The only Jamo that was worth the time was their high end open baffle design at CES years ago....can't recall the name.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Well I'll be using this on a HT setup but I listen to a lot of music, maybe 60% music specially rock, 40% movies and games, and I believe RTiA is a bit bright and not so god for music compares to HT

I think the RTiA is less "bright" than the Monitor or TSi series. If you want a more musical loudspeaker, check out the LSi series. It's WAY more subtle and musical than the other designs.

The RC 50/70 is a much better speaker. IF you can wait a little I'd go after the rc 70's if not them then I'd go with a pair of A9's.

I find myself agreeing with Leroy here. I have a pair of the Energy bookshelves and I'd say they are better than TSI/M equivalents. A more articulate and smoother high end than those from an aluminum dome no less. They also image better and have a better soundstage, deeper bass. I compared them to Rti-A3s and even gave them the edge there? Although the A3s are very good and a close call--it really depends on what you like to hear. Sound-wise I'd put the sound that Energy puts out somewhere between the RTI-A line and the current LSI bookshelf. Not as laid back as the LSI, not as forward as the Rti. And reasonably 'musical'.

If I were upping the system, I'd say with Leroy...A9s or go with the RCs. But you should listen to them. The most important difference is that the Energy tweeter is more mellow and sweeter sounding YMMV. And equipment also factors in here.

The LSi7 or 9 are the only ones within my budget, about 800 max new. So I´m waiting to see If I can get something from the polk ebay site, so far they only have the 7´s but prefer the 9´s

I have heard the RTiA line, I believe it was the A7, was a bit bright for me, it was paired with a HK receiver. The problem is that I can get to listen to the energy anywhere near me. But from what I have read the RCs will do better in music, that´s what I´m leaning to them. I´ll be usinf my NAD T747 as pre-pro and ADCOM GFA 7605

My favorite bookshelf is the LSi7....over the LSi9. Seriously. It's a much more dynamic loudspeaker than you would thnk. The only thing you MIGHT miss is some bass, but if you're running a subwoofer, it doesn't matter.

I know, you're thinking dual woofers and MTM array....really, the smaller version is just as good. Those two bookshelves are the real standouts of that entire series.

Getting your ears on a good demo for any Polk's is a PITA....so you'll have to go on gut and what you get here I guess.

I agree, as I note above. The LSI-7s are a good choice and most definitely a grade above the RC-10s. I've had my ears on both for a while. If you like your music your ears will thank you! That combo of NAD pre/Adcom should also work well with them!

On another note RC-10s at least, really like HKs! They also sound nice together.

Constantine(CNH) has some good ears so take that observation with some weight and solid advice. I'd love to say that Polk makes the best loudspeaker ever made but not everyone hears the same things or lives in the acoustically perfect cube.

There are so many variables but the most important will be in the higher end bracket. The better gear you have, not so much high end, but just good gear....will allow you to really hear a loudspeaker.

Many thanks! I dind´t really like the RT´s at least in my preference, so I´ll give the RC-50´s a shot (I haven´t been able to find any RC-70´s since they are out of production)...

I still have the plan of have a small 2 ch rig in the future with a pair of LSi7 :p

Either way let us know what you chose and give feedback as to what your impressions were overall. It's important to those of us audio nerds.

I just saw a pair of Energy RC-70's on Canuck Audio Mart with an asking price of $1000. You may get them for less if you really want the 70's. Go into the speaker section and see what you think.

The RTi's are a bit on the bright side, and are geared more for HT...but they're still quite pleasing musically. I loved the RTi8's that I used to have...but I especially loved the RTi6 bookshelves that I had. The RTi6/RTiA3 is an excellent sounding, very musical speaker in my experience. They aren't as bright sounding as some of the other RTi series speakers are. The 6's I had threw an excellent stereo image, had very surprising low end for their size and were just very well balanced overall.

IMO, the RTi6/RTiA3 is the gem of the RTi series(excepting the RTi12/RTiA9, which is in an entirely different price bracket). I miss the hell out of the RTi6's that I used to have, and I fully intend to get myself a pair of RTiA3's sometime down the line to throw into my speaker rotation. But, I've got plenty of other upgrades to come before I get to that.

I totally agree with Mark. My brother has the LSI 7s, they are extremely musical and clear. But you really should have a sub to go with them. Although for a small speaker, they do put out quite a bit of bass, but will struggle somewhat with the lowest notes which will muddy the midrange a bit. Once you add a sub for the lowest, the 7s really shine.

My brother powers his with a Parasound 1500A amp attached to a Denon 3803receiver.

When running a pair of 8ohm speakers, the normal listening volume for a small room was around -30 on the Denon. When attached to the 7s, to get to the same volume, the dial has to be turned up to almost 0.

This is why I always recommend an amp even with the 7s.

That has nothing to do with 4ohm vs. 8ohm, it has to do with the individual speaker's overall efficiency.
