Parked my car in front of a buddy's house today (a very nice neighborhood), went to a meeting and came back to a busted left headlamp and a dent in the front left fender. :frown:

It was a strange hit in that my hood and bumper were unscathed.

A neighbor saw a pickup with a white work box in the bed, hit my car and when the driver saw the neighbor, he sped off. Unfortunately, only got a partial tag so I'm pretty well screwed on this one.

Preliminary estimate on the repair is about $800.00 (headlamp alone is $400.00)

Sucks when you have $1,000.00 deductible.....might have to change that.

Anyway, just needed to vent and hope that the perp gets the bad Karma he deserves.

Carry on.

That sucks man. many years ago I parked my car in the mall and when I came out my tail light was busted. There was a note on my windshield and when I read it the guy wrote that he was only writing it because people were watching and to go F myself. People can be real jerks.

Not sure how it is in CA, but in Texas, everyone that has uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage has a $250 deductible for hit & run accidents. Might want to call your agent and look into that. Its a separate deductible from your typical comp/coll.

Sorry for your prob's... been there. Backed into in a bar parking lot. I suspect the driver was drunk.

The Mayhem series started kinda weak, but has gotten better and better. Best to date IMO...

It would've been better if it was just his head suction cupped to the windshield.

If you've got a partial tag#, color of the vehicle, and vehicle/plate type, it's usually enough for a DMV search. Depending on which part of the tag# you have, combining all that with the county geography might just get you the identification of who hit you. In LA the police probably don't care however.

That is absolutely unbelievable! It's incredible how low people can sink. I couldn't imagine myself ever hitting a car and leaving the scene...let alone doing something like that.

That sucks man. I got hit this last saturday and the lady immediately blamed me because I didn't honk. She had the worst attitude ever. I guarantee if I wasn't out there to catch her, she would have left the scene and not said a word. She tried to say there was no damage...when in reality I'm probably going to need a new bumper or at the least a full repaint.

I truly hope your perp gets theirs. This is unacceptable on any level.

Classic... sorry, but it made me laugh... and reminded me of the time...

Many years ago I was in the left lane of a 3-lane, one-way, city street. An "older man" turned left into a driveway from the middle lane immediately in front of me. I stood on the brakes, but slid into him. My right front hitting his left rear wheel well.

Knowing that he was in the wrong I told him I wanted the Police to come. He replied, "OK, but I think he's just going to tell you that you were following too close."
