I am just putting this out there with the hope that someone can supply me with some info on aftermarket vehicle warranties?

Real quick, the vehicle in question is a 2007 Nissan Titan 4X4 SE, looks to be in pretty good condition overall, with just a shade over 55K miles. There seem to be tons of aftermarket warranties available, but I am just wondering if anyone here has purchased one, and whether or not they have had any dealings (good or bad) with them?
FYI, I have not actually purchased this truck yet, but a deposit was left on it today, and I am hoping to close this deal by Wednesday. Also, the sales manager said a 3 yr. warranty thru Nissan would run me about $2500:eek: (my reason for this HELP thread:smile:)

Thanks.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

I have seen many people burned by so called warranties. A lot of them have so many clauses that they end up nailing you anyway. I personally would skip the warranty myself. Just try to make it so you can return it in 30 days if you find something unusual. A satisfaction guaranty. It is a buyers market right now.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I have a 2005 Titan and it just ran out of its factory warranty. Powertrain is a 5 yr/60K mile warranty. Nissan does not offer extended warranties after the purchase, but if you call NissanUSA they have a company they use. If you want one, call them and haggle. My negotiation went from $2200 all the way down to $1075. There are some catches though and I am sure more than a few loopholes. I ended up deciding against it because it isn't my daily driver, but have had MANY things replaced under warranty. If you are not familiar with the problems that Nissan Titans have had, do some research. you may want to get your deposit back (although they seem to have fixed many of the initial problems by 2007).

Haggle the price of the Nissan warranty. If you could get them into the $1800 dollar range I'd be willing to bet, assuming you're getting between 10k and 12k miles each of the three years of the extended warranty, you'd have no problem hitting even money with covered repair costs. The Nissan extended warranty is good because you know it will be taken at every Nissan dealer in the US, really nice when you're on the road and something happens. Also, no need to pay for repairs up front or wait for payment from your warranty company before the shop releases your car; you pay your deductible, the dealer gets payment directly from Nissan, no hassles to you. I also like the fact that they'll put Nissan parts back on.

Whatever plan you go with, you'll want one with good coverage on the front and rear differentials, rear wheel bearings, IPDM (power distribution module), and power steering lines especially.

    Keep 'em coming, guys!

I should clarify, the warranty offered for "about $2500" is not from Nissan directly; I said Nissan simply because it's through the dealership, but is likely from an aftermarket warranty company. I'll do my best to drive the price down one way or the other...

The truck is in very good condition, brakes, tires, exterior, all seem to be well cared for. Ran like a top, handled well on the test-drive, and everything mechanical seems to be in working order (I kept the poor salesman outside in the cold with me for 1/2 hour checking everything I could:wink:). The Carfax report showed nothing but positives, so I am hoping to move forward with this.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

You get nothing and like it!

Aside from a dealer, do you have a regular mechanic? Ask him who he would recommend?
