I just replaced the tweeters in two of my RT800i's and my CS400i, one of my towers and my CS sound great, the other tower's tweeter won't work. I have done all the connection tests so I know its a problem with the one tower. Anyone that can give me some direction will make my weekend!

I'm a little confused here. What kind of direction are looking for? You need to know where to acquire another tweeter, troubleshoot the issue to see where the problem is or what?~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. If your saying you replaced the tweeter in the tower, and its still not working,, but, the tweeter is good,, possibly a crossover issue ????Not an Audiophile, just a dude who loves music, and decent gear to hear it with.

Thanks for the reply Thesufer andTreitz3, I'm sorry to have confused. The tweeter in the 800 is new and works, except for when its in the 800. I'm new to this and thought I might have a crossover problem. Not really knowing anything about crossovers, are they expensive to have replaced?

Well, let's slow down a bit. You don't know for certain yet if it's the crossover network or the tweeter. Try this....
If you will, take the tweeter out of a known working speaker and place the new tweeter in that same speaker. Be sure not to change anything else in the setup.
Does that tweeter still not work?~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
Why did you replace all of the tweeters to begin with?Political Correctness'.........defined

The tweeter works when placed in a speaker other than the one 800

OK, so we know it's not the tweeter. I would check the connections leading from the speaker terminals to the crossover, then from the crossover to the tweeter. Look for a loose connection and if you can't find anything, then an internal part of the crossover is shot.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Thanks, I will look for a loose connection. If it is a crossover issue, is that an expensive fix? I paid $150 for the two towers so at some point repair costs may send me looking for different speakers. I don't want to replace anything in my setup (fronts 800i,center 400i and rears 600's)so if you have a ball park figure for crossover work, let me know.

I had them tested at a local repair shop, the shop told me they needed to be replaced.
-
Ok, that doesn't really answer my question.
Let's try another way. Did you blow up the tweeters from turning the volume up too high?Political Correctness'.........defined

I bought the 800's used three weeks ago and the tweeters didn't work, so I took the speakers to a repair shop for testing. I don't know what caused the tweeter to stop working.
-
Ok, now we're getting somewhere.
Whomever you bought them from had turned the volume up too high and cooked the tweeters. The one speaker that still doesn't work will have damage to the crossover. It could be as simple as a fried resistor, but without having it tested there's no way to tell. I'd suggest taking the entire speaker to the repair shop.Political Correctness'.........defined

Thanks F1nut, I'll take it in for testing. Sorry for making this longer than it needed to be. The bottom line is the speaker is worth fixing?

If it's just a resister that burnt up, or a $5 cap that went bad then, yes. Having a repair guy do it for you may not be worth it, depending on what he charges for it.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music.
