NAD 2200 problem

I have a NAD 2200 with a little problem. When I turn it on, I get some weird scratchy distortion coming from the left channel. It clears after a few minutes. I have determined that it is the NAD by process of elimination. Could this be the filter caps in the power supply or am I going in the wrong direction.
Any ideas ??

you are going in the right directions.. the 2200 and the 2600 series have that problem as they age. very common problem with this age of NAD power amps. old solder joints tend to break in the RCA outputs too.

Typically if a filter cap is going south you will start to here hum through the speakers and it will get progressively worse, and not correct itself after it's been on a spell. My guess would be a cold solder joint or component like a transistor that is flaky until it warms up.

Bad solder joint or relay contacts are shot.
