Go cheap like the $25 converter or get the Hi face. The spdif out of the Hiface looks like the affordable way to get the cleanest digital signal for now. That will change soon with several new units in the works. I use a ESI Juli@ and have coax spdif and toslink. I got it for the analog in for the most part. I am waiting for the TPA usb unit.
