Gerry Rafferty, the Scottish singer-songwriter who had hits in the late '70s with the street life anthem "Baker Street" and mom favorite "Right Down the Line," passed away at the age of 63 following a long illness, the Guardian reports. Rafferty also left his mark with later generations, thanks to Quentin Tarantino: With the band Stealers Wheel, Rafferty co-wrote the song "Stuck in the Middle," a potent hit on its own that took legendary status thanks to its iconic and gruesome placement in "Reservoir Dogs."

Sad news. One of the first songs I ever learned to play on acoustic guitar was Stuck In the Middle With You.

RIP. It seemed like Baker Street was always on the radio nonstop back in the late 70s. I loved that song.

    RIP

My earliest memories of his music were as a young boy when my Dad played the City to City LP. I recall really liking that album even as a child and also recall being fascinated by the album cover.

The image of the album cover stuck with me into adulthood a lead me to track down CD versions of City to City, Snakes and Ladders, and The Best of Stealers Wheel.

City to City is one of my desert island recordings - mellow, highly textured, stylistically varied, and catchy at the same time.
