Has anyone bought this? Reviews? I read one negative
review that said the center channel is not used and the
vocals are mostly absent from the right front speaker.
They called it a missed oppurtunity. I love Pet Sounds
but want to hear from others before I buy the dvd
audio.

I don't have my CD in front of me but, if I recall correctly, Pet Sounds was originally mixed in Mono due to the fact that Brian Wilson was either deaf in one ear or suffered from severe hearing loss. It seems that his father abused him as a child causing him to loose some of his hearing.

It will be interesting to hear how the mix might have been changed.
Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support
group for that. It's called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Has anyone else here bought the Brian Wilson Pet Sounds Live dvd recorded live in London 2003?

I have it. Consider yourself lucky to find it because it's become rare and expensive. Personally, I typically listen to this disc in high res mono as it was originally released but the stereo mix is fine and I only listened to the 5.1 mix just twice. If you can get it at a reasonable price, don't hesitate. I wouldn't be too concerned if the 5.1 mix is actually 4.1 w/out the center channel.

Thanks for the reply Xharlix, I saw something on Amazon where one of the reviewers mention his dvd of it didn't play back on the center channel. I'm thinking since I'll be listening to it on my SRS/SDA2's I'll be ok :). Looking forward to hearing Pet Sounds live, the few clips on YuoTube of Brian Wilson and his band playing this sound great in stereo on my computer .
